About The ADVENT FILM WORKSHOP
Advent Film Workshop
Now We Bring It To You...
Previous Advent Film Workshops were held near Washington DC during the summer break.
This year we are trying something different.
If you can gather at least a dozen students to attend (but no more than 40), then Advent's co-founder, George Escobar, will personally *bring the workshop to your group.
50% DISCOUNT: We're also offering a substantial 50% discount against the full price of $499 per student. Book within the next 45 days and pay only $250 per student. $99 per parent who accompanies their student under 16 years of age. Students must be 13 years or older to attend. Under 16 must be accompanied by adult guardian or parent.
Email us and we'll send you all the information to book a 2-day workshop.
Advent’s annual 2-day film workshop covers the entire gamut of filmmaking, including: storytelling, production, marketing, and business. Select attendees then qualify to intern on Advent's feature films.
This model began when 40 students interned on the production of Advent’s first feature, the 2009 drama, COME WHAT MAY. Workshop alumni also worked on ALONE YET NOT ALONE, which ranked third in box office per-screen-average during its opening weekend in June.
Advent teaches alternatives to film training, saving students tens of thousands of dollars over traditional film school. “Film schools focus mostly on the technical aspects of production, which can be learned for much less money by volunteering on a film set,” Escobar explained. “Filmmaking is much more than production. That represents maybe 25 percent of what a filmmaker needs to know. [Filmmakers] need to know the rest—the 75 percent, that's what we teach.” Escobar said.
“What I liked about the workshop, and what really helped me along my way, was the focus that they had on the business aspects,” one workshop alumnus said.
“There’s a lot of value in attending a workshop and you can…get your jumpstart on filmmaking,” another alumnus said.
